About SAM :: Volunteers

Please consider joining the devoted volunteers of the Susquehanna Art Museum. Our volunteers are a driving force behind our programs and our success as the capital city's only art museum.

Volunteer Positions

Art to Go! Research Assistant

Assist in the development of portfolio themes for the Museum's growing educational outreach resource program. This project entails researching specific artists, themes, styles, genres of art, developing background material, and project ideas/activities that can be adapted for classroom use at a variety of levels. Training: ongoing. Commitment: flexible.

Main Gallery Docent

Warmly welcome our museum guests, provide general information to the public, and guide visitors through our exhibits.
Training:
Ongoing. Commitment: 4 hours once or twice a month.

VanGo! Docent

Join our celebrated outreach program as a teacher on the VanGo! museum on wheels.
Training:
2 summer sessions. Commitment: Spring, summer, and fall.

Teacher's Aides

Assist our teachers as they prepare materials or teach young artists.
Training: on-the-job. Commitment: flexible.

Administrative Assistant

Basic data entry, assist with mailings and other museum clerical tasks.

Project Assistant

Learn basic skills in preparation and registerial duties during installation of exhibits or lend your time to help organize a special event.
Training: ongoing. Commitment: flexible.
