Luna’s kaleidoscope of color and geometry pairs impossible realities and certain truths. The relationships of men and women—always having figured prominently in the visual creations of artists across time and continents—are presented here in a vivid new context.

Universal allegories are juxtaposed with a strictly Cuban mentality: sexuality and mysticism, adoration and violence, and death and life are Luna’s chosen subjects and his charters often experience all these matters in the space of a single canvas. Men, women, crocodiles, and birds are features in vignettes, effectively capturing the merest moments of terror, rapture, fury, and love, fueled by caffeine and gunpowder.
