Art to Go! * new in 2005!

Underwriting Support Provided By Highmark Blue Shield
Additional Support Provided By Dick Blick

The Susquehanna Art Museum was founded by art educators with a vision of bringing art to Harrisburg and surrounding areas. The concept of a museum without walls is intended to expand the audience that our organization reaches, thus providing a much-needed service in the community.

Beginning spring 2005 the Museum will offer Art to Go!

This new program is based on Art Goes to School; there will be 40+ portfolios available for rental this spring. These portfolios consist of 5-6 reproductions along with an easy to use instruction booklet that contains goals, vocabulary, biographies, maps, activities, handouts, and historical information.

Art to Go! is available to a wide arrange of venues

Libraries, assisted-living facilities, early childcare centers, religious and community organizations, YMCA/YWCA, and home school programs are among the groups this program can accommodate. The marketing target area also includes schools within the Dauphin, Cumberland, and Perry counties. Art-to-Go! relates to VanGo! as an educational outreach service provided by the Susquehanna Art Museum.

Art-to-Go! will function similar to a video rental

An individual (PTO parent, events coordinator, teacher, etc.) can rent a portfolio for a set fee for a set amount of time. For example, one portfolio may be rented for $20.00 for up to four weeks. The individual may renew this portfolio for $10 per additional week. Multiple portfolios may be rented, each at the cost of $20.00, each available for four weeks.

Instructor workshops will be available for Art-to-Go!

Two options will be offered for instructor training for Art-to-Go!. The first option entails two free workshops held at the Museum during the year. These workshops will introduce the program to instructors, and present them with ideas on how to use the portfolios for instruction. The second option offers the opportunity to have SAM staff come directly to a chosen site to present the workshop. This option would include a $50 fee.
